Westminster Abbey Institute: A Call to Words

Tomorrow, Tom will be taking part in a live reading of wartime poetry in Westminster Abbey, with fellow actors Dame Harriet Walter and Paul Chahidi. The event is free and will run from 6:30pm to 7:45pm.

There will also be a panel, chaired by Kavita Puri, that includes Christina Lamb, Chief Foreign Correspondent for The Sunday Times, Louise Sandher-Jones MP, Minister for Veterans and People, and The Very Revd Dr David Hoyle KCVO MBE, Dean of Westminster. The event is being produced by Amelia Richards, and by Josie Rourke, who also directed Tom on stage in As You Like It.

From the website:

How does poetry help us reckon with war? This evocative evening explores the enduring value of war poetry.

From the poets of the past conflicts to the words being written today, this live performance and conversation reveals how poetry can resource, renew, and give voice to those who face conflict and its legacies.

From the Front Line to the Home Front, actors and speakers bring to life the power of language to capture the experience of war and shape remembrance.

The event is free, but tickets are required. You can reserve yours on their website here.
