Four Weddings and a Funeral: Tom Joins the Cast

Christmas has come a little early this year. Tom has been cast in the updated television version of the beloved 1994 film Four Weddings and a Funeral, which just started shooting in London this past week. The limited series is being written and executive produced by Mindy Kaling and Matt Warburton for Hulu, with original writer Richard Curtis coming on to executive produce as well. It will be airing in 2019.

The series revolves around 4 friends reuniting for a wedding in London where, according to Deadline, a bombshell is dropped at the altar that throws their lives into turmoil, and they must weather a tumultuous year of romance and heartbreak. "Relationships are forged and broken, political scandals exposed, London social life lampooned, love affairs ignited and doused, and of course, there are four weddings… and a funeral." The series will star Nathalie Emmanual (Game of Thrones), Brandon Mychal Smith (You're the Worst), Rebecca Rittenhouse (The Mindy Project), and John Reynolds (Search Party). In a nod to the original, Andie MacDowell will be guest starring as mom to Rittenhouse's character. No word on Tom's role yet, but he will be reuniting with his Jadoo co-star Harish Patel, who has signed on as well.

Tom is taking a break from shooting Watchmen, where he has been on location in Wales and Atlanta. Still no word on his role in that either, though details are starting to be get out bit by bit. Watchmen will be airing on HBO in 2019.
